With a playful approach that injects touches of jazz, bedroom pop, and dance-pop into her varied pop sound, singer and songwriter Ella Jane's lyrics contend with the personal. She emerged from COVID-19 shutdowns with her first viral hit, 2020's "nothing else I could do," a song that doubled as a class assignment as she finished high school remotely. After signing with Fader, she continued to draw millions of streams with songs like 2021's "bored&blind," one of several early singles collected on her first album, that year's THIS IS NOT WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE! She presented nine new songs on the follow-up, 2022's Marginalia, before releasing her third album, Sparkwheel, independently in 2026.
