About Elaine
Artist Biography
Elaine loves to explore a number of different styles in her music, but her polymath tendencies expand far past the recording booth. She wrote and self-released her first EP, 2019’s Elements, while in law school at the University of the Witwatersrand. A year later, Elements was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa, and Elaine left the library for the last time. The success, though, didn’t translate. Upon Elements’ release, she told Apple Music: “I think, at the time, I was trying to deny it—there was a lot of impostor syndrome going on. I was like, ‘I just made this with some people in between my classes in university.’ There was a huge learning to accept the new me for who I was.” On 2024’s Stone Cold Heart, she embraces her talent and agency as a woman. She’s confident in both her songwriting ability and her relationships. On “Fake Deep,” she brings a calming influence to the romantic situation, crooning: “We don't gotta fight about it/Sit back, let's talk about it/Anything you need, I'ma be about it.”
