Edith Crash is a French-born, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter and one-woman band. Her sound is a meld of passionate 21st century chanson, folk blues, and brooding post-punk. Crash was born in Perpignan, France in 1983. She began playing guitar and writing songs in her early teens. At 16, her family moved to Barcelona, Spain, where she immersed herself in the sounds of the troubadour and flamenco traditions, both of which influenced her expert guitar playing. Crash released her debut EP, Des Mots, while still in Spain and began working Barcelona's club circuit. She received a grant 2011 from Cases de la Música, Sala la Salamandra. It funded the recording of her debut album, De L’Autre Côté, in 2011. She also received an Injuve Creación Joven grant from Spain's Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality that year, which enabled her to tour. Crash was invited to play Barcelona's Primavera Sound and Let's Festivals as well as premier a one-woman headline show in Argentina. In 2012, she returned to France and wrote and recorded with saxophonist Alex Augé, resulting in the EP Inonde, issued by Vagueness Records. She also scored Florencia P. Marano's short film Aguas Santas; it was presented at the Short Film Corner of the Cannes International Film Festival. In December she relocated to Los Angeles and began playing the club circuit immediately. Her music appeared in director Jane Clark's independent film Crazy Bitches. (She also made an appearance in the film, singing a cover of "Crimson and Clover.") Her track "Casser" was remixed by Sokio and used in Eli Roth's horror film Knock Knock. In 2015, Crash released her sophomore full-length. Partir was inspired by and dedicated to her late mother, and produced by Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Chris Cornell). She played all instruments. She toured North America behind the set and played the 2016 SXSW Music Festival. NPR's All Songs Considered picked her show as one of their "Favorite Discoveries and Memorable Moments of SXSW 2016." ~ Thom Jurek
