A "bobby sox idol," Eddie Fisher was one of the most popular singers in America during the 1950s. Fisher's strong, melodic voice guided a string of Top 10 hits that included "Thinking of You," "Turn Back the Hands of Time," "Tell Me Why," and the chart-toppers "Wish You Were Here," "I’m Walking Behind You," "Oh My Pa-Pa," and "I Need You Now." In 1956 he co-starred with his first wife, Debbie Reynolds, in the film musical Bundle of Joy, and took a more dramatic turn in 1960's Butterfield 8, in which his second wife, Elizabeth Taylor, won an Academy Award for Best Actress. During the late '60s and early '70s, he attempted several unsuccessful comebacks, but he remains a beloved performer in the memories of many. ~ Rovi Staff
