About Eddie Chacon
Artist Biography
Eddie Chacon's intimate, soul-steeped R&B combines sparing lyrics and a rich voice with flecks of spiritual and Brazilian jazz, disco, and dub, among other influences. The singer and songwriter broke through in 1992 as one-half of Charles & Eddie, whose "Would I Lie to You?" was a global smash. Although that's easily the song for which he's most known, Chacon's career can be traced back deep into the previous decade, and involves songs co-written for the vastly different likes of Chico DeBarge, Feargal Sharkey, and Eternal. After an extended absence from music, Chacon recorded and performed with wife Sissy Sainte-Marie. He reappeared at the dawn of the 2020s with Pleasure, Joy and Happiness, a concise set of modest and intimate ballads made with John Carroll Kirby. Intended to be his final recording, it was received so well that Chacon carried on with 2023's Sundown, another Kirby collaboration, and 2025's Lay Low, produced by Nick Hakim.
