Mexican folk troubadour Ed Maverick got his musical start playing the drums in church, wedding, and cover bands.
∙ He taught himself to play guitar by watching online tutorials, and the first song he learned was Jake Bugg’s “Simple As This.”
∙ While Maverick’s debut, Mix pa llorar en tu cuarto, was initially released independently, its viral success attracted the attention of Universal, which quickly signed him and reissued the album.
