Shun Ishiwaka is a drummer, percussionist, and bandleader based in Japan. He works in settings from classical and jazz to indie pop and EDM. Ishiwaka has worked with artists including Soil & "Pimp" Sessions, Ai Kuwabara, Hiromi, Terumasa Hino, and Takuya Kuroda. A member of Tokyo's Boys since 2011, he made his recording debut with them. In 2015, the drummer released Cleanup leading a sextet. In 2016, he followed with the five-volume Songbook series; the other four appeared annually. In 2020 he co-founded Millennium Parade with Ayatake Ezaki and Daiki Tsuneta. Their eponymous debut arrived in 2021. That year he joined composer/pianist Yoko Kanno's Sunbeams for Cowboy Bebop: Soundtrack from the Netflix Series. In 2024, Ishiwaka reprised that role on Cowboy Bebop: Songs for the Cosmic Sofa, worked with Hiromi on her Blue Giant soundtrack and, with journeyman musician Chihei Hatakeyama, released Magnificent Little Dudes, Vol. One. ~ Thom Jurek
