DripReport is an American rapper of Pakistani descent whose 2020 viral hit “Skechers” created an online dance craze and led to a deal with Arista Records.
• Before it was a stage name, DripReport was an Instagram account. The artist would use it to post remixes of songs by artists like Lil Nas X and XXXTentaction. These new versions would feature vocals and dance moves inspired by his Pakistani heritage.
• Named for affordable light-up shoes, “Skechers” is a response to hip-hop’s obsession with luxury brands. The song exploded on TikTok, soundtracking millions of videos.
• Despite the song’s sexual lyrics, the footwear company Skechers publicly praised DripReport for bringing attention to the brand.
• Thanks to his viral hit, DripReport signed a deal with Arista reportedly worth more than $1 million.
