One of the first traditional ska bands from Europe to impact American shores, Germany's Dr. Ring Ding and the Senior AllStars were led by singer/trombonist Richie Jung, formerly of El Bosso and the Ping Pongs. Rechristening himself Dr. Ring Ding in tribute to the Skatalites hit of the same name, Jung assembled the Senior AllStars, which included bassist Andre Meyer and drummer Thomas Hoppe, and recorded Dandimite, issued in the U.S. in 1997. Ram Di Dance followed in 1998, and two years later the Doctor returned with Diggin' Up Dirt. ~ Jason Ankeny
