Dubbing himself a “modern day Kurt Cobain,” Ohio rapper and producer Doobie exists at the cusps of rock and hip-hop, expressing his anguish with clever rhyme schemes.
• Doobie began rapping at just eight years old. In his teens, he taught himself how to produce because he couldn’t afford to buy beats.
• He caught the attention of Ohio native DJ Hylyte, who signed him to his independent label SCFMG for the release of his 2013 solo debut single, “Ink Me.”
• Featuring the cult classic “Hopeless,” which came with a bloody drug-themed music video, Doobie’s 2015 mixtape Cocaine Christmvs earned the rapper a significant online following.
• He propelled himself into the public eye with his self-produced 2017 hit “When the Drugs Don’t Work,” which garnered over 80 million streams across platforms.
• In 2019, Doobie released his debut album, Faithfully Faded, which features rappers like Yelawolf, Clever, and Krash Minati.
