About DJ Manta

After the British Top 50 hit "Holding On," which looped floral trance around a pole of O.M.D.'s "Maid of Orleans," the anonymous producer duo DJ Manta staked their claim on being the Gatecrasher generation's one-dimensional KLF. Reportedly written as a laugh and produced in six hours, the single was initially released on Germany's Reef Records before the band signed a more extensive contract with AM:PM in an alcoholic daze at 1999's Miami Winter Music Conference. "Music Will Bring Us Together," a sequel in many ways, thundered over sound systems at 2001's Love Parade even though its affectionate and sarcastic marriage of modern dance and ABBA's "Lay All Your Love on Me" said to some that DJ Manta's shtick was precisely that. ~ Dean Carlson
