Country rapper Demun Jones draws influence from hip-hop, country, classic rock, and soul, creating a hybrid sound that speaks to his experiences in rural Georgia.
• Demun Jones became interested in music at an early age, when his mother got him into Michael Jackson. The youngster would study the pop legend’s moves and perform them for his family.
• Jones decided to pursue music after serving as a backup dancer for the rap group Prime Suspect, featuring Danny Boone and Steaknife, future members of the group Rehab.
• He joined Rehab after the departure of founding member Brooks Buford and contributed to albums like Graffiti the World (2005) and Welcome Home (2010).
• With his 2014 solo debut, Jones Country, Jones attempted to rep for his hometown the way N.W.A—one of his major influences—did for Compton.
Demun Jones has also released music as a member of Rehab.
