With his laconic delivery and lyrical, psych-tinged anthems, Dean Wareham is a revered indie rock icon who gained cult status fronting two legendary bands, Galaxie 500 and Luna, before going solo. Galaxie 500's hypnotic, lo-fi sound helped shape indie rock at the time and well into the future. After the band's breakup, Wareham formed Luna, whose buoyant, dreamy albums like 1994's Bewitched, 1995's Penthouse, and 2002's Romantica, earned critical acclaim and became staples of alternative radio. Also out of Luna came Dean & Britta, his collaboration with partner and bandmate Britta Phillips. Together, they supplied the soundtrack to several of acclaimed director Noah Baumbach's films. He eventually issued albums under his own name, including a 2014 eponymous effort, 2018's Dean Wareham vs. Cheval Sombre, and 2021's I Have Nothing to Say to the Mayor of L.A.. In 2025, he reunited with Galaxie 500 producer Kramer for That's the Price of Loving Me.
