Following in the footsteps of his cousin Dani, David Otero is the second member of Spanish power pop outfit El Canto del Loco to pursue a solo career after their 2009 self-imposed hiatus. That hugely successful band scored four number one albums and 11 chart-topping singles during the 2000s, one of which ("Despiertame") Otero penned. Showcasing a more experimental side and flirting with electronica, indie pop, and folk, he released his debut solo album, Nada Lógico, under the guise of El Pescao in 2010. He returned in 2014 with Ultramar, and released the simply titled David Otero in 2017. A year later, he was back with 1980, inspired by the fondly remembered sounds of that decade. After releasing the duets album Otero y Yo (2021), he resumed his solo career with the introspective Inteligencia Naturale in 2024.
David Otero has also released music as a member of El Canto del Loco.
