∙ An in-demand songwriter as well as performer, Murphy wrote the No. 1 hit “Living in Fast Forward” for Kenny Chesney, and Jason Aldean topped the charts with his “Big Green Tractor.”
∙ The 2004 album Tryin’ to Get There took its title from one of the four tunes he cowrote with country legend Waylon Jennings.
∙ Kenny Chesney lured Murphy out of a 14-year recording hiatus in 2018 by offering to helm the album No Zip Code with Grammy Award-winning producer Buddy Cannon.
∙ In 2018, 23 years after notching his first No. 1, Murphy topped the Billboard Country chart for a second time with “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.”
