In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail.
One of my earliest musical memories is sitting in the car with my dad, windows down, music blasting. He’s a bass player, so he’d always point out the groove in every song. I’d sing along, trying to mimic every riff and harmony. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular?
Men I Trust, Oncle Jazz
Meshell Ndegeocello, Plantation Lullabies
Stevie Wonder, Innervisions Remastered
1: Timeless, nostalgic, and iconic. “Visions” still makes me cry and reminds me of my parents.
2: Had this on repeat - the whole album feels like a psychedelic trip.
3: My dad, a bass player, loved this. We’d blast in the car with the windows down. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song.
“Fall Asleep”
This was my first proper release on DSPs. It was a beautiful and transformative time in my life, and collaborating with Blue Lab Beats made it even more special. Still a great, timeless song that I’m proud of today. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far?
Getting a last-minute call to support Teedra Moses at her sold-out Jazz Cafe show the next day! I rocked up solo, just me and my tracks. She was a vibe—so friendly and supportive backstage. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band?
Maybe it’s a cliché, but I’d love to tour the world with my music, ideally with a full band. Sharing my music, experiencing different cultures, and exchanging energy with people everywhere—that would be amazing.
