Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest musical memory is in a church in Papua New Guinea, our Australian family, surrounded by powerful islander voices with no accompaniment. A church with no walls, the roof lifted with the sound of revival inspires the heart of Commons' music
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bruce Springsteen, Born In the U.S.A. Chris Tomlin, Arriving Khalid, Sincere The songs have a rawness, lyrical depth, and honesty that made a profound impact on me (Reuben Morgan) as a musician and songwriter for CXMMXNS (The Commons Music)
Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Mighty to Save (Live)” It is one of the first songs we (Ben & Reuben) ever wrote together. We went back and forward on every section, except the chorus, which felt right early in the process. We still get blown away by the stories that people have about this song to date.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Hearing 'What A Beautiful Name' sung in Arabic was moving. In Syria, where people targeted by ISIS clung to the song as the crisis worsened, my prayer was that hearing it in their own language would bring hope in the face of tragedy.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Absolutely. I’d love to think the Commons best songs are still ahead of us. And I’d love to help create a space for others to do the same.
