Neil Young joined Crosby, Stills & Nash in mid-1969, months after releasing his first album with Crazy Horse, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.
∙ Prior to inviting Young to join the band, Crosby, Stills & Nash approached Steve Winwood and The Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian, but both had other commitments.
∙ Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s second-ever live show took place in front of 400,000 people at the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Festival.
∙ Nash wrote “Our House” in an hour, inspired by an outing with then-girlfriend Joni Mitchell.
∙ The quartet’s 1970 debut, Déjà Vu, was a critically acclaimed commercial smash, hitting No. 1 on the Pop charts and producing three Top 40 singles.
