Known to crash the mixtape website DatPiff with his releases, rapper Chris Webby shot to fame with his sharp punchlines, versatile flow, and abundance of pop culture references.
• The Connecticut native began rapping in the sixth grade, even though his parents didn’t want him listening to hip-hop.
• Webby’s 2010 mixtape Best in the Burbs was so popular that it crashed DatPiff—a first for the site. He did it again with 2011’s Webster’s Laboratory.
• The 2011 EP There Goes the Neighborhood quickly rose to No. 1 on the iTunes hip-hop chart.
• The rapper’s 2014 debut studio album, Chemically Imbalanced, features guests like Tech N9ne, B-Real, and Talib Kweli. The LP reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
• Webby’s comedic flare has earned him frequent comparisons to Eminem. Which makes sense, since Em was his favorite rapper growing up.
