Though U.S. music fans first caught wind of New Zealand's Chris Knox through his association with the celebrated kiwi indie-pop scene of the 1990s, the singer-songwriter has been known in his home country since the punk era, as the founder of two popular bands, the Enemy and Toy Love. Knox is a tireless home recording enthusiast whose lo-fi output, both solo and with Alec Bathgate as Tall Dwarfs, sparkle with wit, hooks, and a touching sincerity. He is equally capable of writing delicate love songs ("Not Given Lightly," covered by Frente), punk rave-ups, and twee acoustic pop.
