Artist Biography
Pop vocalist and actor Chayanne is one Latin music’s top-selling artists, with nine No. 1 hits and 26 Top 10 singles on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks chart.
∙ He was selected to be a member of the Puerto Rican boy band Los Chicos, after being discovered at age 10 at his older sister’s singing audition.
∙ The most popular member of Los Chicos, Chayanne made five albums with the group, as well as the film Conexión Caribe, before going solo in 1984.
∙ His 1988 self-titled album had four Top 10 Latin singles—including his first No. 1 hit, “Fuiste un Trozo de Hielo en la Escarcha”—and earned him a Grammy Award nomination.
∙ He has appeared in several Latin American TV series, including starring roles in the telenovelas Pobre juventud, Volver a empezar, and Provócame.
∙ In 1998, he landed his first major English-language acting role, costarring with Vanessa L. Williams in Dance With Me.
