After the demise of their band Love Life, singer/percussionist Katrina Ford, guitarist and keys player Sean Antanaitis, and drummer David Bergander formed Celebration, and began playing in and around their native Baltimore. Celebration plays brooding, dramatic indie rock in the vein of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, utilizing sequencers, drum machines, and an organ pedal board to create a swirling, cabaret-influenced sound. Their self-titled debut, produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek, was released on 4AD Records in 2005. The band toured extensively in ’06 and ’07, making appearances at the South by Southwest Festival and Cochella. Celebration’s sophomore album, THE MODERN TRIBE, also produced by Sitek, appeared in ‘07.
