With a sound that straddles the line between West Coast folkie and introspective lo-fi dreamer, Caroline Says is the project of indie singer/songwriter Caroline Sallee. Her self-recorded debut cassette, 50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong, first appeared in 2014 but was reissued by Western Vinyl to broader acclaim three years later. She continued to explore a similarly dreamy, retro-tinged palette and themes like time, change, and regret on 2018's No Fool Like an Old Fool and 2024's The Lucky One, although the latter album featured a slightly more economical, resigned sound complementing its motif of solitude.
