German group Blutengel (Blood Angel) were founded by singer Chris Pohl, after contractual and legal problems forced him to exit the popular band Seelenkrank. An electronic pop group with goth overtones, the band has experienced a number of member changes while maintaining a configuration of one male and two female singers. They sing in German and English, with lyrics exploring love, passion, and romance in highly dramatic tones. After the German breakthrough success of their third album, 2002's Angel Dust, and its singles "Angel of the Night" and "Vampire Romance," Pohl retooled their live show into a theatrical spectacle, featuring dancers, pyrotechnics, and melodramatic sets and costumes. Blutengel's lineup changes have not bothered their fans, as sales have steadily grown for their back catalog of releases. ~ Laurie Mercer
