In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My earliest musical memory was watching and listening to my father at the piano. I could always find him there. I would make up songs with him from as early as 3 years old and, as he liked to put it, boss him around with my melody and lyric ideas.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? A Tribe Called Quest, The Low End Theory Billie Holiday, Lady Sings the Blues Mary J. Blige, What's the 411? Billie and Mary are both so authentic and heartbreakingly real in their deliveries it slays me. And Tribe are masters of jazz/hiphop mingling. Not to mention, Q tip came to my gig at Bumbershoot and I almost passed out.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Probably playing at Disney Hall in LA. We were joined by the most beautiful string section from the LA Philharmonic and I invited my dad to play piano on that gig. I have never felt more more grateful to be doing what I love than I did that night.
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There always is ! Isn't that true for every artist? I'm dying to do more collaborations with people I respect and admire. .. if I'm going big, I would love to win an Oscar for having a song in a Bond film. Ok, a GRAMMY too. :)
