Known as the "Denver Nightingale," Billy Murray's strong tenor voice and clear diction helped him become a popular and prolific artist in the early days of recorded music. Murray got his start as a teenager in various vaudeville revues, and at 20 made his first cylinder recording. He dueted with all the big singing stars of the day, and sang with popular bands like the California Ramblers. Successful at almost everything he tried, Murray had several hit records, including early recordings of the standards "Alexander’s Ragtime Band" and the unofficial national "anthem," "Take Me Out To The Ball Game."
Billy Murray has also released music as a member of Billy Murray, Haydn Quartet &, Victor Minstrels, and The California Ramblers.
