Often compared to the legendary Serge Gainsbourg, singer/songwriter/arranger Benjamin Biolay is a gruff yet honey-voiced singer whose lyrics juxtapose everything from the absurdity of modern life to passionate love. He is a renaissance man of French chanson, whether extending the tradition as a songwriter, as on 2007's Trash Yeye, paying tribute to great singers and songwriters of the past, as on 2015's Trenet and 2018's Songbook with Melvil Poupaud, or re-envisioning tango and Latin American cumbia as modern French pop on 2016's smash Palmero Hollywood. He returned with French rock on 2020's Grand Prix and stayed close in 2022's hit Saint-Clair. The following year saw the release of his first live album, À L'Auditorium, accompanied by a symphony orchestra.
Benjamin Biolay has also released music as a member of Home.
