Signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, brash rhymer Beanie Sigel emerged as a Philadelphia street-rap titan at the turn of the millennium.
• Beanie’s 2000 debut album, The Truth, features guests like Scarface, Eve, and JAY-Z. The LP went Top 5 on the Billboard 200 and earned a gold certification.
• Just Blaze and Kanye West were among the producers on Beanie’s 2001 sophomore effort, The Reason, which reached No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
• Beanie formed the group State Property with fellow Philly rappers Freeway, Peedi Peedi, Oschino, Omillio Sparks, and the Young Gunz in 2000. Both of State Property’s two studio albums topped Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
• In 2009, after signing with G-Unit Records, Beanie dissed JAY-Z on the 50 Cent collaboration “I Go Off.” Beanie reunited with Hov and ended the feud at a 2015 concert.
