In the artist’s words:
Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. David: I heard Silver Apples' "Dancing Gods" in 1968. It was at once a Native American ceremonial and an electronic mesmerizer. Rob: Age eleven, "I Saw Her Standing There" heard on an AM car radio in the middle of nowhere, northern Saskatchewan 1964.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Gang of Four, Entertainment! Talking Heads, Remain In Light The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Rob: The sheer genius of the Beatles' songwriting, arrangement, and production. R&D: The perfect synergy between Byrne and Eno. David: GO4's non-doctrinaire agitprop.
What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Six months into our career we formed the variety show La Brea Circus: John Fleck (of NEA 4 infamy), Philip Littell (librettist for André Previn's Streetcar), Apache Dancers (Rufus Wainwright collaborator Bernadette Colomine), and Perpetua (Thelma).
Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? We'd be delighted to top 150 YouTube channel subscribers…
