Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Before I opened my mouth to scream or cry, my dad was strumming his guitar and singing songs from the best troubadours of his time, so while I studied classical woodwinds in college, from the minute I picked up a guitar, I began writing songs.
What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Counting Crows, August and Everything After Patty Griffin, Living with Ghosts Suzanne Vega, 99.9 F While these albums take me back to the period when I first listened to them – formative years in my own songwriting life – the songs continue to reveal human truths that transcend time. They are timeless stories sung by true and authentic voices.

Tell us why you chose this song. “What Really Matters (Radio Edit)” I wrote this during a particularly terrible wildfire season in California, while thinking about how destruction always brings a clarification of values. This is a song about what really matters.
