Artist Biography
Fronted by songwriter and full-throated lead singer Annie Caldwell, Annie and the Caldwells -- also known as the Caldwell Singers -- are a family band putting forth an inspiring and distinctly Southern mix of gospel, blues, soul, and funk. Based out of West Point, Mississippi, the group is rooted in the Staples Jr. Singers, with whom Caldwell debuted in the mid-'70s as a teenager. Starting with Answer Me in 2013, the Caldwells recorded three albums for Memphis' Ecko label before new interest in the Staples led to David Byrne's Luaka Bop label releasing the organic Can't Lose My (Soul) in 2025.
