About Andrea Berg
Artist Biography
Andrea Berg, one of the biggest-selling German pop divas of her generation, was discovered by producer Eugen Römer. While sales of her debut, Du Bist Frei, were poor, the follow-up -- Gefühle -- proved a massive hit, led by the smash single "Die Gefühle Haben Schweigepflicht." Träume Lügen Nicht (1997) and Weil Ich Verliebt Bin (1999) solidified Berg's chart success. In 2001, Berg issued her first Best Of collection, a blockbuster that spent more than four years on the German charts and earned her the first of three consecutive ECHO prizes. Machtlos also reached number one upon its mid-2003 release. Splitternackt followed in 2006. In 2007, Sony-BMG released a second best of collection, Die Neue Best of Andrea Berg. She released a special Christmas album, Dezembernacht in the winter of 2008. It featured interpretations of Yuletide classics such as Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht and O Tennenbaum. In 2009 she teamed up with producer Eugen Romer and released the folk-inspired album Zwischen Himmel und Erde. She returned to her upbeat brand of schlager with the 2010 album Schwerlos, it proved to be one of her most popular albums as well as topping the bestseller charts.
Her success and popularity strongly continued into 2011 with the release of her thirteenth album, Abenteuer. ~ Jason Ankeny
