About Andrés Calamaro
Artist Biography
Argentine singer, songwriter, and producer Andrés Calamaro is one of the most diverse and important recording artists to emerge from Latin America. After his commercial breakthrough with 1989's Nadie Sale Vivo de Aqui, he emigrated to Spain and formed Los Rodriguez with Ariel Rot, and issued three charting albums including Sin Documentos. He returned to solo recording with the 37-song Honestidad Brutal in 1999. His live 2005 outing, El Regreso, took home a Gardel Award, and was followed by the best-selling tango covers collection, Tinta Roja, in 2006. Calamaro returned to pop with the appropriately titled On the Rock in 2010. In 2015, he cut Hijos del Pueblo in collaboration with Spain's Enrique Bunbury. 2018's Cargar La Suerte took home a Latin Grammy, and 2021's Dios Los Cría offered 15 original songs written as duets for a host of Latin music's most important artists.
