Contemporary R&B artist Alycia Bella specializes in candid songwriting and billowy vocals. Originally from the Bay Area, she started recording in the 2000s, and toward the end of that decade received nationwide exposure with appearances in the reality television series Daddy's Girls. Bella ventured into acting and appeared in the 2012 film Christmas in Compton, the soundtrack of which featured a song by her short-lived group Suga Stuff. Shortly thereafter, Bella co-wrote LL Cool J's "Not Leaving You Tonight." Although she also made connections with the likes of Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, and Frank Ocean, Bella was otherwise thwarted by a series of label deals that didn't pan out. In 2020, however, she emerged with a batch of atmospheric if emotionally resonant ballads, most of which were made with Summer Walker collaborator Jacob Gamboa. These showed up on the full-length Muse, which arrived early the next year.
