Alfred Sim made the jump from the sports pitch to the stage and never looked back. With perseverance, the move eventually paid off: his musical talent helped him win the crown on the third season of reality show Project SuperStar in 2014. Soon Sim began lending his voice to that bittersweet feeling of leaving home in Hometown, and recounting fond memories of a broken relationship in “最美的时光” (“The Most Beautiful Time”) and “一直都在” (“Here, Always”). With deep, husky vocals and immaculate technique, Sim has a knack of adding a personal flair to his soundtrack recordings. In addition to soothing, heart-rending Mandopop ballads, Sim proved his versatility on 2016 debut EP Alfred, offering classic ballads as well as tracks with elements of alternative rock, pop and R&B. On “微光” (“Shimmer"), he describes the warmth one feels over simple acts of love, while “My Friend” has an alt-rock edge that's refreshing and relatable.
