Artist Biography
Born on April 7, 1967, in Hamburg, Alex Christensen broke into the dance music scene with U96's massive German club anthem and number one single "Das Boot," a 1991 Euro-dance adaptation of Klaus Doldinger's theme song from the classic 1981 film of the same name. Though often associated solely with Christensen, U96 were technically a group, also featuring songwriter/producers Ingo Hauss, Hayo Panarinfo, and Helmut Hoinkis. U96 remained active during the '90s and even intermittently into the 21st century, although without matching the success of "Das Boot," and in 2002 Christiansen embarked on a successful solo career at Alex C., often in tandem with vocalist Yasmin K. (aka Yass), topping the charts with the 2007 single "Du Hast den Schönsten Arsch der Welt." ~ Jason Birchmeier
