About Al Kent
Artist Biography
Al Kent, born Ewan Kelly, is a DJ, record collector, compiler, and producer of re-edits and original material. The Glasgow native's approach to sustaining disco's relevance is lovingly irreverent, as illustrated through the piles of releases he has contributed -- sometimes under other aliases -- to labels like Jisco and his own Million Dollar Disco. Kent has also used Million Dollar Disco as the name for a Salsoul Orchestra-styled group for which he wrote and co-produced an album, Better Days, released on BBE in 2008. Kent has assembled five volumes of Disco Demands -- unmixed sets of obscure tracks and additional re-edits -- bundled together for wider release by BBE in 2011 as The Best of Disco Demands. BBE has also been the home to four volumes of Disco Love, double-disc sets consisting of a mix from Kent and unmixed tracks. They were released from 2010 through 2016. ~ Andy Kellman
