b. Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. A smooth reggae artist, and ex-member of Skin, Flesh And Bones, whose first recording was for Coxsone Dodd, Brown subsequently teamed up with the Volcanoes, but enjoyed a UK solo hit with his version of Al Green’s ‘Here I Am Baby’ for Trojan Records. Later singles included ‘Caribbean Queen’ and ‘No Soul Today’, but he proved unable to repeat the success, despite working with the Seventh Extension band and others.
Al Brown has also released music as a member of The Paragons and Al Brown & His Tunetoppers.
