About AKMU
Artist Biography
The South Korean brother-sister duo AKMU for short—have charmed television viewers and music listeners with their harmony-driven brand of quirky folk-pop.
• After LEE CHANHYUK and LEE SUHYUN began their career as independent artists under the name Akdong Musician, they gained South Korea's national spotlight via the television show K-pop Star 2, where artists compete to land a deal with top K-pop labels.
• Original songs they performed on K-pop Star 2 topped local charts, and AKMU won the entire competition. This allowed them to sign with YG Entertainment, one of K-pop's biggest labels. They became the historically hip-hop-focused agency’s first folk act.
• Elder brother LEE CHANHYUK wrote and produced every song on the duo’s 2014 debut album, PLAY.
• AKMU has notched a string of chart-topping singles, including the electronic dance song “Dinosaur” and the brooding ballad “How Can I Love the Heartbreak, You’re the One I Love”.
