Adrian Younge applies a crate-digger's perspective to organic syntheses of myriad Black music idioms while expanding to European progressive rock, pop, and film music. The uncommonly prolific producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist came to notice with his soundtrack for Black Dynamite (2009), his first of many works for visual media. Something About April (2011) expanded his scope with conceptual psychedelic soul that led to helming albums by the Delfonics, Ghostface Killah, and Bilal. After Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad solidified a long-standing partnership with 2018's lush The Midnight Hour, they launched the Jazz Is Dead platform. Its first two series showcased legends including Roy Ayers, Marcos Valle, and Tony Allen. Series three, launched with Ebo Taylor JID022, was in progress when Younge finished his lovestruck trilogy with the Portuguese-language Something About April III (2025). His output has also spread through samples on tracks by Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Common, and others.
Adrian Younge has also released music as a member of The Midnight Hour.
