Artist Biography
A futuristic band that’s simultaneously retro, Add N to (X) gloried in the icy analogue-synthesizer apocalypse that 1970s acts proselytized and 1980s acts turned into high fashion. With album covers and imagery that dissected the relationship between man and machine in sometimes-graphic ways, it’s only logical that the English trio of Ann Shenton, Barry Smith, and Steve Claydon concentrated on playing artificial music with human warmth.
Energetic live shows, organic percussion, and restless experimentation kept them squarely apart from lo-fi nostalgia, and using antiquated tools to make something never before heard made them timeless.
