Though it only had one hit record in its short career, the U.K. pub-rock band Ace made it count--its 1974 release “How Long” made a significant dent in both the British and U.S. charts. With impeccable musicianship and a workmanlike stage presence, the band enjoyed moderate live success on the British college circuit in the pre-punk-rock mid-‘70s, and launched the career of the singer and keyboardist Paul Carrack, whose later achievements included stints with such 1970s and ‘80s icons as Squeeze and Mike & the Mechanics.
Members of Ace include, or have included, Phil Harris and Paul Carrack.
