KPop Demon Hunters Cast, HUNTRX & Saja Boys
KPop Demon Hunters (Soundtrack from the Netflix Film)
Album · K-Pop · 2025
To craft the soundtrack for KPop Demon Hunters, Netflix’s animated film about a fictional Korean girl group that moonlights as demon hunters, co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans brought in some of K-pop’s heaviest hitters. BLACKPINK producer and The Black Label co-founder Teddy Park produced the girl-crush track “How It’s Done” and “Golden,” two of the songs that introduce the sound and characterization of girl group HUNTR/X and its members (Rumi, Mira, and Zoey) within the world of the film. Jenna Andrews and Stephen Kirk, the songwriters behind BTS’s English-language hits “Butter” and “Permission to Dance,” composed the soulful duet “Free” and climactic track “What It Sounds Like,” while German songwriter Lindgren (BTS’s “Boy with Luv,” TXT’s “CROWN”) wrote the fight song “Takedown.” Kang and Appelhans tapped Black Label co-founder KUSH, Black Label producers Vince and 24, and Grammy-nominated music supervisor Ian Eisendrath (Only Murders in the Building) to help craft the sound of demons-turned-idol-group Saja Boys. The composers worked on the bubblegum bop “Soda Pop” alongside fellow Black Label producers Dominsuk and Danny Chung. For the Saja Boys villain track “Your Idol,” Black Label producer IDO, Theater Camp songwriter Mark Sonnenblick, and EJAE were also on the team. The soundtrack cements its K-pop credentials by including features from TWICE, one of the most popular K-pop girl groups of all time. A “solo” version of TWICE’s 2024 girl-crush hit “Strategy” (which originally featured Megan Thee Stallion) is included on here, and members JEONGYEON, JIHYO, and Chaeyoung sing an alternate version of “Takedown.”
