MEOVV (pronounced “meow”) made their mark on the K-pop scene in 2024 with a flurry of singles, including the “cattitude”-driven “MEOW,” diary-pop ballad “TOXIC,” and sultry empowerment anthem “BODY.” However, the five-member girl group from BLACKPINK producer Teddy wouldn’t release an EP until 2025 with MY EYES OPEN VVIDE. The six-track album features the aforementioned singles alongside Brazilian-funk-inspired “HANDS UP” and R&B track “LIT RIGHT NOW,” but it’s “DROP TOP” that was chosen as the EP’s featured single. The pop-rock track is simultaneously an introduction and a declaration for members Sooin, Gawon, Anna, Narin, and Ella, who hope to follow in BLACKPINK’s girl crush footsteps: “What's up, what's up? Tear the roof down/’Til the sunrise, ride towards the stars.”
