Debuting as part of SM Entertainment boy group EXO in 2012, Kim Jongin—better known by the stage name KAI—made his solo debut in 2020 with a self-titled EP. In 2023, he had one of the biggest hits in K-pop with “Rover,” a remake of the bass-driven dancehall song “Mr. Rover” from Bulgarian singer Dara. With 2025’s Wait on Me, KAI made his return to K-pop after a two-year hiatus for mandatory military service. In that sense, the album’s title track—an Afrobeats-infused track about the heady power of anticipation—is aptly named. Across the mini album, K-pop artist KAI refuses to stay still. From the rolling Latin trap of “Pressure” to the amapiano-inspired “Off and Away,” the seven tracks on Wait on Me are designed to be moved along to. Sensual and smooth, the performance-driven album evokes a hazy dance-floor sensibility—fitting for an artist known as one of the best dancers in K-pop.
