FattMack
Here to Stay
Album · Hip-Hop/Rap · 2025
Though historically overlooked as a Southern rap region, Mobile, Alabama, has become all but impossible to ignore in recent years thanks to homegrown stars like Flo Milli, NoCap, and Rylo Rodriguez. Add 19-year-old FattMack to that growing list, his hard-hitting 2024 releases Money Music Murder and TMK setting the stage for the bar-raising Here to Stay. Linking with consistent producers like Tahj Money and Yakree, he confidently rides a wave of relatable yet streetwise themes gratifyingly delivered in a partially sung style with cuts like “Kai Cenat” and the aggressively Auto-Tuned “Sacred.” Standout moments like “Body” and the Cashmoney AP-helmed opener “Hell” offer glimpses of his promising range without depriving the overall project of consistency. Though most of the tracks center him, he allows a handful of others in the studio to amplify his offering. Atlanta rapper Lil Tony drawls with wisdom beyond his years on the booming “Hit It,” while Jay Montana turns up with the goods for the narcotized “It’s a Drought.”
