Anna Lapwood
Firedove
Album · Classical Crossover · 2025
Anna Lapwood proves there’s no music the organ can’t do. With the huge 20th-century pipe organ of Norway’s Nidaros Cathedral at her disposal, she brings gravitas and grandeur to Alan Menken’s soundtrack to Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame, launches Robbie Williams’ “Angels” to celestial heights, and dazzles in virtuosic, intoxicating music by French organist composers Maurice Duruflé and Louis Vierne. In between, the Choir of Pembroke College, Cambridge joins Lapwood for Bob Dylan and a handful of mesmerizing contemporary choral works, plus saxophonist Jess Gillam makes a guest appearance for an ethereal performance with Lapwood of Rachel Portman’s Flight.
