To survive like Atlanta’s K CAMP has, you have to be Teflon-tough. Enter his 2025 album, Built Different, a collection of cuts equal parts introspective and club-ready that find the middle ground between his melodic tendencies and ATL roots. On “Consequences,” he spits over a rubbery bass groove and a soul sample that gives a jolt to the song’s minimalist edge. He laments the times he’s succumbed to weakness, knowing that he’ll do better next time he’s faced with similar challenges. It’s all part of being built differently. He raps, “Give it all to God, please forgive me for my sins/I lost family, I lost friends.” There’s a duality on the album that helps illustrate K CAMP’s humanity, like how he can go from sadly recalling love lost on “It’s Gone” to dropping ones for his favorite club dancers on “Watch It Fall.”
