Maddie & Tae expand their 2024 What A Woman Can Do EP with this full-length collection, the duo’s first proper LP since 2020’s The Way It Feels. Adding 10 new tracks, the pair comprising Maddie Font and Tae Kerr take stock of how their lives have changed in the intervening years. Both Font and Kerr have since become mothers, and songs like the clever “Chasing Babies & Raising Dreams” and “What A Woman Can Do” explore the many roles modern women play. Opening track “Fall in Love & Find Out” finds the duo revisiting the single life, serving up a twangy last-call anthem with shades of ’90s country and early Miranda Lambert. Fan favorite “Heart They Didn’t Break” is heavy on the pair’s richly rendered harmonies, which here sound more mature and complex than on earlier releases. “Kissing Cowboys” goes full-on honky-tonk with its two-step beat and cheeky lyrics, and “Sad Girl Summer” takes heartbreak and turns it into heartening empowerment.
