Loe Shimmy doesn’t want to hear your theories on market saturation, releasing too much music, or running the risk of overwhelming his fanbase. In 2024 alone, the Pompano Beach, Florida-bred rapper has dropped three full-lengths. Zombieland 2 arrived in March (its deluxe edition, Zombieland 2.6, arrived in June), and The Z Files in October. Just a month later, Loe Shimmy dropped his third project of the year with Nardy World, a collection of reflective and contemplative examinations of how he ended up an artist that kids look up to.
On “Leave,” he calculates the cost of his sacrifices over sparse piano chords, employing a half-sung flow: “I’m finally taking off/I gave these streets my fucking soul, I guess I paid the cost/Got off my ass and up the score, I made myself a boss.” Was it worth it? Shimmy’s not sure. On “Substance Abuse,” he likens the streets’ hold on him to a drug addiction, lamenting his ability to truly step away from the hood that made him, rapping, “They keep tryna get me out this trap, but these streets left a stain on me.”
